WARNED presents…

Thé au Jardin

WARNED presents Thé au Jardin: a haven of greenery and a natural space in the heart of the city. Nestled at Kauwberg, in the beautiful commune of Uccle, our house and accompanying gardens constitute a safe gathering “freespace” where you are encouraged to learn, connect, grow and share on a social, emotional, mental and physical level. We openly embrace our differences: those who wish to be active, those who are extroverts, those who live alone, or those who prefer a slower pace are all welcome. Thé au Jardin is an inclusive project in which the links between younger and older generations is forged and circularity is key: we collaborate in harmony, everything we need comes from and feeds back into the community.

In our unique, fixed programme of activities, performances and workshops, our experienced team of volunteers, professional instructors and artists create a varied space wherein you can improve self-esteem and confidence, regain autonomy, increase physical movement and boost mood.

The principle is simple: just come as you are and grow with us.

Wednesday ‘Garden of Movement’

Tai Chi Session

The body is in the spotlight on Wednesday. Walking, sports and movement classes specially designed for the GOLDIE body. In these varied sessions, we focus on a sustainable approach to health: rediscovering our connection to nature, water, the soil and the forest. We learn through movement how to adopting a more ethical and less predatory way of life. Designed to emancipate the body and mind, these workshops are inspired by human permaculture.

GOLDIES

GOLDIES! Whether you are single, married, divorced, widowed, in a free partnership, and whatever your political opinions, religion, gender, sexuality or standard of living, we welcome all over 65s with enthusiasm! WARNED welcomes GOLDIES of all stripes…those who like to laugh out loud, sing like opera divas, dance like nobody is watching, dress unconventionally, ride mechanics like bicycles (!) - and those who just prefer a quiet chat over a cup of tea. We welcome GOLDIEs who are busy, those who work, those who no longer work, those who have confidence in themselves, as well as those who need a boost.

We especially welcome GOLDIES who are interested in boosting their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Our Thé au Jardin programme provides an accessible and safe way to explore the self through a variety of unique and exciting workshops.

During a festive afternoon, our volunteers, instructors and artists help you play and forget your age. Alongside the younger generations, you will increase self-esteem and confidence through social connection, gain an understanding of your emotions, increase autonomy through a variety of workshops, have fun by participating in artistic performances and boost your physical health through movement and dance.

By participating in an event or activity produced by WARNED, you automatically become a member of our Association. As such, we ask our GOLDIES to recognize themselves in our values: open-mindedness, inclusivity, a desire to participate, benevolence, generosity, sharing, co-creation and staying safe and healthy. These shared values and commitments give you an idea of what we expect from each other and of the standards to which we hold all of our staff, volunteers and activities at WARNED. We are a community.
